We went back to Thompson Cancer Survival Center today to get a shot of Neulasta, a drug that will boost bone marrow growth and cause it to produce more neutrophils. This neutrophil boost will help keep the next chemo treatment from being delayed, and keep me safe from infections.

Title: 2nd Chemo treatment – 3rd times the charm!
Description: white cells are going to be ABOVE 1200!
Date: 2010-08-10
Getting ready for chemo today. Took a shower, ate a good breakfast, and I feel great!
We go in for bloodwork at 9:45, to see how high the WBC count is climbing.
I’ll post updates to FB & Twitter, and update this post when I get home.
Wish me luck!

AFTER CHEMO UPDATE
Third time WAS the charm! My Neutrophil (white blood cell) count was at 2600, WELL ABOVE the 1200 minimum. I got have chemo, and I ate 2 lunches during chemo yesterday, the complimentary hospital lunch and a Triple Lindy burrito from Moe’s that my parents brought. This afternoon (24 hrs later) we’re going back to the hospital to get a shot of Neulasta, which will stimulate my bone marrow to grow and produce lots more white blood cells. Life is good.
