Tuesdays I Get a Little Sideways

While this post’s title has been a common “Tuesday status” for me (on Facebook), I never thought it would apply to getting chemo. Today might be more than just a little sideways, as I am having my 10th chemo treatment today, and it’s the 140th day since the chemo started.

This week, Thursday and Friday will DEFINITELY take too long, but I will feel better on Saturday! (I know I say something like that every time I write a post about my chemo treatment, but it’s a HUGE deal. Every single time.) In addition to looking forward to Saturday, I’m also setting my sights on the ‘end’ of treatment.

Today will be chemo 10 of 12, so we are on the home stretch. After today, I will have only TWO MORE treatments, on Dec 14 and 28, and then I should be DONE with chemo!

When we reached the halfway point of chemo, Jacqui commented that, ‘It’s like climbing a mountain. Halfway up gets you to base camp. The second half getting to the top is the harder part.’

Since then, we’ve realized that coming back down will br difficult as well. With my low neutrophil counts, I’ll have to continue to not be around people very much for a month or two while my body rebuilds and gets healthy again. It will be hard, and it has been/will be a long road, but it will be for the best. We will succeed.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, tomorrow I WILL feel better just for spite.

Today is a Wonderful Day

If you haven’t been to the above link, visit it right now.

Today is the day of Dance With Andrew. Three bands are playing tonight at the Broadway Performing Arts Center. Doors open at 7pm. First band starts at 8pm.

It has been wonderful to see all the work and effort that has gone into putting this night together. Tonight promises to be a fun evening for all, and I hope that everyone who comes to the dance tonight has a really good time.

I’m so thankful for all the wonderful people who are reaching out to support me right now during my battle with cancer. I am two-thirds of the way through my treatment — 8 out of 12 treatments completed. While I am looking forward to the last treatment cycle, each treatment is getting harder for my body to deal with, and it means a lot to have people around me who care so much, and helps me be strong and persevere through the hard parts of treatment.

I’m really really really looking forward to seeing everyone tonight. I hope to dance with as many people as possible, and that everyone has a wonderful time.
