Cancer Sucks.

I demand a recount.

I demand a recount

Unfortunately, we did not get good news from the doctor yesterday. The 2cm spot in my chest has gotten larger, and another node has lit up next to it. This means life is going to suck for awhile. Cancer sucks.

To make sure the spot is cancerous, I’m going to have another biopsy of my chest this coming Tuesday, March 22, at Fort Sanders Regional. Thoughts, prayers, good energy, good vibes, juju, and lots of dogged determination will be greatly appreciated on Tuesday. Greatly appreciated.

We’ll find out the results of the biopsy on Thursday. From there the path is not entirely clear, but will probably involve ICE chemo, stem cell harvesting, High Dose chemo, bone marrow transplant, etc. to try and get rid of the cancer. This is not going to be fun, and it’s not going to be pretty.

Fairly soon I will probably not be able to have a social life again, I’m going to be in a lot of pain again, and I’m gonna have to go through worse than what I went through the last 6 months of last year. It’s going to be a lot harder, and Jacqui and I are going to need a lot more help and support this time around.

Thanks to everyone who has already offered to help, and to everyone who will offer to help.

It was wonderful to see everyone at the dances last September at Regas and last November at the Broadway Academy of Performing Arts. It’s good to see people and to get to be social. That’s one of the ways you can help. Come to the house and visit us. Talk to us. Remind us that we’re not alone, and that you’re there for us. Bring us food. Spend time with us. Send us more cards (we LOVED all the cards last fall). We love your support, and we are very very very grateful for it.

Cancer Sucks, and I’m glad that we don’t have to face it alone. Thank you all for sticking with me.

Peace and Love,
-A

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Today is a very happy day, and I hope that the results of my PET scan will give us even more cause to celebrate. My PET scan was Tuesday, and this afternoon we will find out the results.

On the last PET scan I had, at the end of 2010, there was a 2cm node that had increased activity.

If the activity in my chest has gotten lower or gone away, or if the mediastinoscopy does not show cancer, then that is good news, and I will only have to have checkups every few months to make sure the cancer is still at bay and is not thinking about coming back. This is OPTION 1, and it is still the best option.

If that activity is the same or higher, we will have to do a mediatistinoscopy (surgery where they go in my neck and down my chest) to see if the activity is cancerous or not. If it is cancerous, then we will have to do radiation and high dose chemo, and I will need a bone marrow transfusion. This is OPTION 2, and is not what we would like to happen.

So please, vote for Option 1. Vote early, and vote often.

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers, please continue to send positive energy and good vibes, and let’s hope that tonight we can raise our glass of green beer to celebrate GOOD NEWS!

Peace and Love,
-A

Update Of My Life — Picture Note

For the grid pictures, if you click on the SHOW AS SLIDESHOW link, it doesn’t seem to work. We are currently working on resolving this issue.

If you want to see a cool slideshow of the pictures, click on the VIEW WITH PICLENS link instead, and enjoy the show.

Also, some of you may have found that if you click on the text links of the pictures, it will take you to a whole page of all the pictures, where you can look at them all at once or individually in their full size. Hope you all enjoy!

Peace and Love,
