An Evening in Italia to Celebrate 1 Year

Tuesday, October 5th, we made it to the halfway point of my chemo treatment, which is a milestone.

Wednesday, October 6th is a totally different milestone that is very very special–Jacqui & I are celebrating 1 year together!

I bought her a bouquet of roses, hid them in the trunk, grabbed a bottle of wine, and whisked her away to Italia, I mean Savelli’s, but same difference right? After we sat down I ‘realized’ I had forgotten something and went back out the car and brought back the roses, which were amazing.

We opened the wine bottle and toasted each other. I normally don’t drink alcohol for a week after chemo, but sometimes exceptions need to be made. This was a time of celebration!

The most interesting thing happened when we got our food, which was delicious. I took one bite and then saw the fresh parsley and lemon wedge that were on my food, and realized that with my low neutrophil count it was not safe to eat the raw foods. The staff at Savelli’s were very understanding and fixed me a new dish with no raw food, and it was scrumptious!

Wonderful dinner! Romantic evening! Amazing girl!

I am a very lucky man.
