Cancer Sucks.

I demand a recount

Unfortunately, we did not get good news from the doctor yesterday. The 2cm spot in my chest has gotten larger, and another node has lit up next to it. This means life is going to suck for awhile. Cancer sucks.

To make sure the spot is cancerous, I’m going to have another biopsy of my chest this coming Tuesday, March 22, at Fort Sanders Regional. Thoughts, prayers, good energy, good vibes, juju, and lots of dogged determination will be greatly appreciated on Tuesday. Greatly appreciated.

We’ll find out the results of the biopsy on Thursday. From there the path is not entirely clear, but will probably involve ICE chemo, stem cell harvesting, High Dose chemo, bone marrow transplant, etc. to try and get rid of the cancer. This is not going to be fun, and it’s not going to be pretty.

Fairly soon I will probably not be able to have a social life again, I’m going to be in a lot of pain again, and I’m gonna have to go through worse than what I went through the last 6 months of last year. It’s going to be a lot harder, and Jacqui and I are going to need a lot more help and support this time around.

Thanks to everyone who has already offered to help, and to everyone who will offer to help.

It was wonderful to see everyone at the dances last September at Regas and last November at the Broadway Academy of Performing Arts. It’s good to see people and to get to be social. That’s one of the ways you can help. Come to the house and visit us. Talk to us. Remind us that we’re not alone, and that you’re there for us. Bring us food. Spend time with us. Send us more cards (we LOVED all the cards last fall). We love your support, and we are very very very grateful for it.

Cancer Sucks, and I’m glad that we don’t have to face it alone. Thank you all for sticking with me.

Peace and Love,
-A

    Hi Andrew,

Just read your updates and wondered (hoping) I can do something for you and Jacqui. Provide a meal, shopping, transport to appointments? PLEASE let me know, as I am more than happy to help. Not sure where you live, but we live in Bearden. Come on already… get better!!

    Hi Andrew and Jacqui,
I make a pretty mean batch of mini-meatloaves. They freeze well and make a great no-fuss meal anytime. If you will give me your address and a phone number, I’ll make a batch and freeze them and just drop them off when it is convenient. Maybe I’ll make some of my almost world-famous chocolate/toffee-bit brownies too. My family and I have you in our prayers and are sending positive thoughts your way. Hoping for a good treatment plan and positive results.

    Hi Andrew, Jacqui, and Kate,

You and your family are constantly in my thoughts. I am praying for your complete healing. I have experienced the lows and depths of chemo and am a companion in your suffering to some degree though probably not nearly as much as you. Thank you for brightening my day, on day that was not so bright day for you “March 22, 2011.” You are a courageous and positive testimony to me. I trust that God is in control and will see us both through our individual journeys.

    My love and prayers,

    Ruth McGee
